Listening to every heart

Dry Creek flooded
the day you died.

It seems that only in solitary
do tears so flow
rushing at odds as hands
won’t stay still

so I unpacked boxes
for a house
that would never hear footsteps
or your chuckle

only those echoes
that would be held
within my own mind
of what you might say

as to where the rose bush was planted

or how the sound of the chimes
would blend well

with hummingbird thoughts.

Dry Creek only runs now
when I trip over
rocks of re-collect-ing.

Well done Karilea.

Sometimes the right poem is there at exactly the right time... I'd apologize for missing this earlier... but I needed it today.

Beautiful work!!!

Someone great said to have a complete day, one must cry a little and laugh a little.  Well, your poem is a tear jerker!  I guess my day is moving on toward completeness!  This is very touching.

Karilea, a for sure! This poem is remarkable. You are beautiful from the inside out ~ and not only do you touch hearts with your writing, you touch souls.

Your words were incredibly moving and I could identify with the feelings that you so eloquently expressed.

Two of them have already been pulled out, but one rose bush still remains that I am bound and determined to keep it planted where I planted it... Glad I'm not the only one to make such crucial decisions. (Smiles) ...and I do think its ok to trip over those stones (rocks) every once in awhile as long as you don't pick them up and throw them at anyone. Great sentimental writing. Enjoyed reading. -Bob
