pockets of wet fog so thick they choke the gray skies hanging heavy, thick blanket of saturated air
you can't see chimney smoke, wouldn't know if it's there unless your nose knows the smell of burning wood
and here not far from the foot of ol Mt Hood,
it's darkness in the middle of the day
and I'm remembering Alaska winters
though I am in Oregon now,
wearing more sweaters than when
I lived at the North Pole a few years ago,
wondering when I shall see the sun again
but it's OK, because I know the sun is still shining
...somewhere over those hills and a hidden rainbow
and even the newest angels that fly past me will sing
that the beauty of a rainbow can never be hidden
...though at this moment, I cannot vouch for that
with these wet eyes

I enjoyed this perhaps more so because my son lives close by.  We are still at the peak of summer - could do with a bit of cold.

I flowed with the beauty of this.

I just read it into my brain and I dont remember the eyes coming into play.

A snapshot of feeling into an image in a play in words.

i got to agree a excellent blend of images and emotion...since that oregon weather seems to change hourly that rainbow and dry eyes can't be far off...touching write.

Odd was yesterday
And today me reading this
A reminder of

Hoarfrost with no clouds above
Blue skies, but crystals falling

Enjoyed reading your perception of a different fog, Kacy.

impacting and something we've all felt at one time or another, bittersweet and very touching...this certainly makes the reader feel those times once again, and perhaps a good reminder to all of us...

Sending hugs and love...
