In an undisclosed canine world
where crass men are called dogs
and waggy tailed pooches
are treated as men
there lie little old ladies.

Little old ladies that run out of bones
fetch snacks when dinner time is honed
their furry friends illicit donations
they know how a dog must beg
timed to the beast raised on hind legs...

Now the dog feigned death
it hadn't eaten
old lady's luck was sorely beaten
'cause she thought he was dead
it hadn't been fed
the beast was very much alive..

Alive to a point,
it mirrored human habits
sitting in a chair
the beast held a pipe
even danced a jig
was this show poorly rigged?

The lady had to encourage its human airs
so she purchased a head of false hair
when buying shoes seemed so right
buying a suit that looked too tight
and the dog mocked the lady
for all the entrails too;
'cause he liked to play dead
it was his potential death
that fueled her dread.
