There’s a wideness to the prairie that transcends the Kansas plain, From Smoky Hill to Ninnescah, a vastness- heaven’s pane, To allow a mortal man to view upon forever, As he treads on blue-stemmed grass, from yesterday to ever, The Kiowa hunt buffalo; on the trail to Sante Fe, Fort Dodge’s soldiers on patrol, while cowboys seek their way, Riding herd to Abilene, trail’s end- a night in jail, Wild Bill Hickcock, Wyatt Earp, iron horse on doubled rail, Open range, barbed wire fence, homesteaders, fields of grain, There’s a wideness to the prairie that transcends the Kansas plain. There’s a vastness to my journey that defies a man’s explain. |

You couldn't have shared this any better, Sir. And when the stars come out on a clear night... wow. |
