I AM YOUR SUN

The sun is up and the day seems fine
because I cannot see the full extent of needs
like the sharp and thrilling touch of innate energy
and the calming influence of a hand to hold.

Fearlessly the sun becomes the sum of everyone
before subtracting the insignificant and useless
and appearing as a sphere stable in avowals
of eternal permanence in a timeless sky.

But unable to dissipate the heat of loving you
it suffers on the brink of imminent implosion
till finally its power flitters away into the air
and it hastens to the other side sunken in despair.

There it cools its ardour and calls forth reality
to humble it still further into acceptance mode
but committed to a dream it screams internally
while moving, always moving, in the way ordained.

The sun, the sun, my heart of love. burns immortally
because I cannot see what waits beyond the feel
of alone remembering the way it used to be
when this world, my world, was truly wonderful.

Time, unfriendly time, pushes love off to the side
too busy, unaware, to enjoy the midday sun
and bask in the knowledge of having overcome
the deep and darkly somber shadows of this life.

The sun is up and the day seems fine;
why is it that I cry silently, internally,
like a wounded butterfly
until the night grows wings on me
and sets my mind to flight?

And I fly above the evergreen fields of fantasy
like a bird set free to know there’s mystery in me
holding hands with angels and sensing inwardly
I am your only sun on the other side of life
wanting so to rise from dreams into reality

BRAVO again! Helen, this is absolutely beautiful. so many good lines! Especially:

"Fearlessly the sun becomes the sum of everyone
before subtracting the insignificant and useless
and appearing as a sphere stable in avowals
of eternal permanence in a timeless sky"
