little bird sorrows - a song of compassion |

sorrow sounds weep from words blue upon page and my heart aches with compassion and tender such little sparrows broken wings flail and impotent clipped by worldly woes or battered by whirling winds would that I could enfold them within the healing touch of a soul over flowing in hard won understanding my eyes, they cry pools of knowing and these fingers long to soothe I wish to say “it’s okay” and mean it and have the words come true but alas, I too am but a little bird long fallen from the nest Yet -- still I would sing to you a song of sweet and pray for healing s.a.t. If I wander far enough, long enough, will I finally know . . . |

Susan I go into my garden and just stay leaning against a fence and blackbirds will come to see me and perch in a tree about 2 foot away. Sparrows, finches live from the berries and some eat oats would you believe, whilst the Blackbirds love catfood. Nuts and seed and everything are them for then but the enfolding is when they ignore you as if you weren't there. I liked your words. Dave |

A very nice song of compassion.... I once, also, had the opportunity to become a sparrow in my own mind and when one becomes a sparrow, as you have here, we do realize how curiously fragile we truly are and how wonderfully precious truly life can be. Very very much enjoyed your song. -Bob |

Thank you my friends - seems to be a lot of sadness all around - wish it were different - sometimes I wonder what's it all for? Hugs - Susan If I wander far enough, long enough, will I finally know . . . |

Sparrows are lovely little songbirds, playful and generally oblivious to our human foibles. It saddens me when even one baby falls from the nest, or suffers a broken wing. But my heart really breaks for all the human babies who fall, never getting their full share of flight time. |

I love the way you use space in this poem....a textbook example of how to foreground your message in that way, without flogging the reader with it. Well done! ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

It will be lovely to have all the little birds singing and playing again come spring, perhaps then too joy will permeate the hearts of my friends as well as myself - thank you my friends, for your replies thanks Ed for the comments - it's nice to know when something works - Hugs - Susan If I wander far enough, long enough, will I finally know . . . |

Yes it is a song of compassion. And even the smallest trill, the slightest chirrup from a phantom source is hope through a darkened day. Enjoyed Poets against the war is redundant |
