For five full days this stormy fray
Put on a wint’ry show.
I went to sleep – Now it’s so deep
The ground’s three feet below.

My world’s all bright in wondrous white,
It’s drifting to and fro,
And my poor car can't go too far…
Where did that shovel go?

But if I wait, the snowdrift’s fate
May be elsewhere to blow.
The neighbors might enjoy the sight,
For they’ve all plowed their snow.

Despite this pelt it’s sure to melt
Within a month or so.
The sun will shine – all will be fine.
This white stuff’s sure to go.

Why should I work??To go to work?
I’d really like to know…
I’m resting now – I’ll call a plow
I have nowhere to go!!!

These are pictures of my holly and pussy willow trees in my back yard...

OH this looks truly like a winter wonderland and we have had so little snow fall so far this year here.  This was a delight to read Nan, good to see your words again!

Well ... The pictures are beautiful BUT they would look a lot better with my footprints in them I tell you.  Missing that place like crazy.  The poem isn't half bad either.

The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all art and science.

Ooh fun!!
All we've had here is ice,
great for accidents,
but not much fun for making snowangels with.
Good to read you...

It seems so long ago that I earned a fair piece of change on the business end of a snow shovel.  Altho' we get snow now and then, it is pretty rare.  Mostly our precip comes in other forms, and you don't have to shovel rain.
These are charming pix and words.  Thanks for sharing that distant place with us.

By the way, Anna Rivers Siddons has a beautiful novel of your next of the woods called "Up Island."  Of course you have copious spare time to read.
Again, thanks for sharing your winter with us.  Ken

The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light

Thanks for enjoying this oldie (amidst NEW snow) my friends.

Today's picture? Well here's Orca - Checking out the snowbank that starts at the window ledge and continues straight out and over the car...

Nan,

Rather than dwelling on the negative aspects of being snowed in, you painted a wintry wonderland for us! Your backyard must be beautiful!
