Blue deserted beaches
Café chairs empty
Upside down on tables
Waitresses light cigarettes
Waiting for hungry patrons
With far away stares &
Busy pockets….
Imaged city, cartwheels over my head
Painting clouds shredding apart
Cans & fresh manure, pasted to canvas
A dieing man singing in a phone booth
Wearing a white raincoat
Writing about plastered columns

What is this place?
Every woman’s face is the same?
Midnight sun calls to me
I look everywhere, turning over silence
Eyes looking up, I see heaven part
There is one red rose floating seaward
Smearing my forehead with scented hours
Reminding me of all those good years
The ones I, ignored hoping to make a profit
Way to busy, not knowing how long
Each soothing image would last
And I wanted them to last
Right up until the end…

Arranging flowers takes years
My muse smiles, asking
“Do I wanna see the grand design?”
Shaking childhood like 6 shake pudding,
I say “I’d better not”
Waiting has become my skin & fatherland
Finding new signals
Growing at the end of my street
Neighbors are opened arm happy
Strangers smile
Deep waters grow warm
Under my gliding oars
Giving food to the poor
I peer into dim hours
Bearing any lasting images
Picking up a broken branch
Wondering if I could outrun the waves
I smile and try only to loose again

But decide to chase them back….

Mountains are mating with midday
I notice a snail sliding backwards
He’s smiling at his larger shell
While handing me a tightrope
With an icy path
Blind faith grows two more years
Slipping and sliding on the ice
But my boots fit pretty tight
So I walked that tight rope on a blistery day
Inside the wind
Clutching close my tiger eyed marbles
Breathing slow deep love
Love for the waiting waitresses
For wintry life….for orphans of nature
And the parlor of spring bulbs
Which sleep in the night….

I decide to sit down by the waitresses
They pour half and half in my tea
Smiling like an operatic haven
We all hold hands, singing “Feelings”
For the first time in my life
I understand….
The baroque of picture touch
And the train I no longer have to catch….

Reading you is always an experience!  You inspire me and at the same time make me think I will never be able to write again.
