Do you remember
the sounds of     yesterday
when laughter was the music
our souls danced to,

a time when speaking
was not needed
because our eyes
said more than words
could ever say,

how a sometimes not so accidental
brush of hand in subtle touch
could make two hearts race
to the very same place

until we were speeding
through the night
like a freight train       with no brakes;
so we would just ride out the storm
until we ran out of tracks

then lay new ones down
as we blazed our own trail
across midnight skies
riding the stars into tomorrow,
falling into the new day
standing side by side;

when winds blew fiercely
trying to toss
and tumble us into the unknown
sometimes causing us to stumble
and we would throw caution to the wind
but we always found our footing....

continuing side by side?

  Somewhere along the way
  the music faded
  into the sounds of     yesterday....

                 Do you still remember....us?

Such a heart ache of a melancholy write Donna.
You had me from the first lines above.
This is beautiful in it's pause to reflect on the past.
Love ya lady~

Donna - this is incredible - so heart felt, and I went upon the journey with you - and sorrowed at the end -

well done, little one...

bittersweet as Muted stated...."yesterday"....seems like so long ago....a time forgotten till now....miss those "yesterdays"....sadly, they are gone forever..and tomorrow will probably not repeat history...at least for me....this was an incredible piece of work Gentle one...

Happens way too often to way too many.  A question that I am sure many of us have you and you bring up your point wonderfully in this.

It reminded me of a lot of things from a lot of words

It was good to hear them so succinct

aww Donna, this one stuck in my chest . . .
it also reminded me of something good though, too .  . . I was in a record
(yes LP's-vinyl) store the other day and God, I just love albums and what you wrote brought me back there too.

A love that once had us roaring down a track
is one we never forget...and yes,  we often
wish that yesterday would again come to us
and stay if but just a little while.

Very honest...
full of love,
and loss without omission of hope.
Well done.

That wasn't a dream then? I too wonder if ever past loves ever allow our memories to surface from the subconscience...and if there is a twinge of longing there, however brief or quickly extinguished.

That was my favorite stanza. I'm glad this came back up. You have an honest face and beautiful eyes.

You are all far to kind and I am humbled by your replies, I am grateful.
Richard I am sure that is not just a dream and never should be just a dream. Sometimes a recalled thought of yesterdays gone by do seem to rise to the top and we can only enjoy it or be hurt by it in the remembering.
