On A Ledge Perched on today like a baby on a window ledge. It’s a fall either way and I don’t know how I got here. Time is a lot of places, none of them very good, and what’s in the room with us doesn’t care about floor plans or fire escapes. So what will it be, the carpet and it, or hope for an awning five floors down? Time and gravity will do the choosing. After all, I’m a baby. I don’t know what awnings are. Or floors, baby. Or hope. But I do know down. |

Oh, I do touch on things like this from time to time, but it's less noticible with me because I don't get pompous about it like some folks do. With something like this, it's all to easy to put on airs. Actually it's very simple stuff but for some odd reason we can't resist surrounding it with mumbo-jumbo...either physics mumbo-jumbo or occult mumbo-jumbo...neither is necessary. Ed Up to a certain age, babies have no fear of falling and they don't perceive the danger. I think I'll reach out my hand and lead you towards the carpeted side...if that's ok. This poem has impact for many who have felt this way. Well done!  |
