talk thirsty
sucking
succulence
I don't want you anymore
I wish I could put you away
and never have to think of more
of all the varied rhyme of these:

Here
there is
this lonely space
talk thirsty
and my dusty knees
were once a hymn
I sang to God
once I sang
to be forgave
wavering my prayers
treble
oblique
et tu
(and you?)
I pray,
I pray, for you
for you, my youth -

I dug the grave
and whistled moon:

like the nails that bent soft wood
traveling the under-route
of the castle's fortitude
grinning teeth of fated gate
damn the throbbing
absolute
bobbing past the sleepy guard.

Blot the bleed
forgive my greed
of all I-want-and-I-have-not
god I feel so bad tonight
the pores between the hairs are screams:

Open open sesame!
cask amontillado needs
a rusty iron peg
of dread
death by inches
has me beg
just another day
of dead

broken at the knees.

Why is it this makes me think
that even though we lose,
sometimes we still win?

I don't know...but

"k"

I'll have the white omelette with crawfish tails in mozzarella (known as Zip's # 9 in the Cellar) and a nice Bloody Bull too, but make it translucent, if y'wanna see a tip.

and um, yeah, the shrimp cocktail if you must, but? I prefer the fried crab claws breaded with parmesan and sharp white cheddar--garlic sauce--tell Tina at the bar I said "hey" too.

and hey lady, this is for you...(fertive movements)

"...I sang to God

I have never found her in a forgiving mood,
but then
again
it might just be
the differences in gender.

A woeful write of a life walking backwards unconcerned at the destination but just going with the flow. See you made me think....I think.

because you are so special to me, I can not read this and not feel you in every word, and want to hug you....and yet...because I respect your talent so, and am always awed by your gift of expression, I can not read your work, no matter what the confess of express and NOT be impressed by the depth of the talent...

sometimes I feel like a (you know)
cuz I read and know...but cant help but smile and shake me head and say damn... look at her go....

ya know?

you take those thoughts from my head that I could never articulate...and make them so real.

and I adore you for it.

I spent the weekend at this church camp with about 100 other kids... I helped out as a counselor with a small group but with my health I couldn't do most of the stuff so I'd head to the river. There was a tree there that leaned across the water and it's roots were spread out above ground...

Usually saying you have bruised and splintered knees from praying is just a way to explain it... a metaphor, I guess.

Not this time.

Didn't mean to go off on my own subject in trying to tell you how great your poetry is. Just wanted to find a way to say that I get it. And I love it.

Always, Alyssa
