Trying to Learn This spring chick hatched Summers ago But actually in winter, Blooming late as she did Naivety kept her in fall zone Much, much too long But still, she tried to learn Aspects, theology, idealism Boundaries Much, oh too much more Insights, perspective, ideologies And love Math and science she tried to equate But she roamed and raced In imagination and time Mindful of grainy sand falling through Sunken holes, though Stopping some with her fingertips Ever mindful of her warp’d-ness Casting a fate upon each next footstep ~ A mind fighting with each read, “You can do it better,” She wished to lean against the genius Of her grandfather, Knowing her line was strained While mentally training in vain This wayward, Late-blooming mind. Karilea - if I whisper, will you listen? Keeping in mind, I must stand close...and keep my promises... |

"Mindful of grainy sand falling through Sunken holes, though Stopping some with her fingertips" Enjoyed the way you captured these grains of thought. |

Oh, I know what you mean about the thirst to learn - gads, there is so much I want to know - enjoyed this - and you are lovely to look at you know, your smile so fits your pen name - Susan If I wander far enough, long enough, will I finally know . . . |

Are you sure we weren't twins? Sheesh, the trials and tribulations of growing up, aging mentally and becoming sharp as a tack, in spite of the spring and chicken thing. |

Naivety kept her in fall zone Much, much too long Your poetry is a warm ray of hope, and helps me to understand as well as accept the unfolding and the fragile beauty of life. Wonderful write, Karilea~ |
