A tongue in cheek story poem for Rebecca (Whtdove),
and my neighbour, let's just call her "S" for safety's sake.
(She actually reminds me of Mrs. Huber, LOL)

A Desperate Housewife I Am Not!

“A friend,” called to tell me I had to see this great new show on t.v.
She said, in this new show one of the characters was surely based on me!
“I swear,” she said, “Sharon, you just wait until you sit down and watch,
You’ll be hooked on this new soap opera, I bet even you think its top notch!”

It wasn’t until; oh let me see here, probably around Episode 2 or 3,
I realized which one of those women reminded her of me!
She made a point in saying I was like this character in each and every way,
I was so hurt when I figured it out watching the show on that Sunday.

At first I was sure she thought me as Edie, for she’s the beautiful blonde,
She could get her way in everything, without ever using a wand.
Then again, maybe she thought me as Susan, the cute single Mother?
As I had always tried to be a friend to my son, making sure never to smother?

Then again, maybe it’s Lynette, as I had also had a fabulous career,
But I had retired from that grind I ground year after senseless year.
I wanted to think I was Gabrielle, oh you bet she’s a sexy little witch,
Making out with a handsome young gardener who she pays to dig her ditch! *winkie*

I realized in an instant it was none of those three exciting women above,
I had to really wonder if she had made this reference with any sort of love?
She likened me to the redhead, Bree; yes, she’s the perfect Stepford wife,
She does everything absolutely perfect, for all the people in her life.

The more I watched; I realized that I too saw me in Bree on that darn t.v.
It made me sad I have to say, to see how others might perceive me.
Heck, I accept everyone just the way that they are, and all that they may do.
After all these years, my being a perfectionist was certainly nothing new!

Was I was upset for a minute over this comparison ~ well for sure, you bet!
I was taking what she said as criticism, but also knew that my ways are set.
This is going to have to be “their stuff,” and certainly I won’t make it mine,
I won’t apologize for being tidy, or for eating gourmet food when I dine.

Seems to me I offer my skills to those of you needing a hand with whatever,
I’ve never said I was too busy to any one of you, in any kind of weather.
I find nothing wrong with being me, our type tends to pick up the slack.
Perfectionists have a purpose ~ helping those of you, with skills that really lack?

Judge me not my friend, unless you want to be harshly judged thus too,
Think before you speak to someone, or someone may also speak of you.
We all are what we are; that fact is as plain as the nose of our face,
That’s what makes this world such a wonderful, and crazy place!

~*~
Fact is, this is such a well done show that I would bet every woman in this entire world can in some way identify with one of its characters.  I wish this show a long airtime, as it’s terrific!

For the record, the writer of this soap was so down on his luck, he was being supported by, and living with his Mother.  It was his Mom that actually suggested the idea for this series. Moms truly are special people, yes?

Carpe' Diem

But Bree?, why, she's the one that makes me grin!
Surely you jest, and cannot think this a sin
to be likened to perfection, red hair and smooth skin...
She can't help it if she's a Stepford twin!

I have never seen this show, but those ladies sure don't look like any desperate housewives to me. LOL, perhaps I need to watch this show, at least once.

Well my neighbour did do one thing she got me hooked on this show that's for sure!  I won't even answer the phone when this is one, and even though I am taping them all, I want to watch it "live", LOL.

Kacy, get caught up - you are way behind - here's the link for you. Click on episodes at the top to play catch up.

They won well deserved Golden Globes last night, as did my other surreal show, Nip and Tuck.

It's a GREAT show...I think you are a lot like Bree, Sharon. (Do you wear sexy red undies?) And the more I see her, the more I like her. She's got character as well as OCD tendencies!

Well that Wisteria Lane is some nifty place alright, and I admit it I am hooked!

Sharon I know I am like her and can't dispute that, in more ways than you have seen yet. (bet she is a Gemini)  See, you can't always judge the total book by the cover it takes turning the pages to get the feel of it.

I sent this to Rae and taped it all for Becca, so she won't miss anything LOL.

I just realized too I would have to be a housewife to be a desperate one, and the liklihood of that is 100% zero!

Thanks for sharing a view into the show and a very nasty neighbour.

Wisteria??? I thought it was Mysteria Lane. Oh well. My Wife and Daughter Loooove this show and never fail to miss an episode and I do admit that I have glanced over more than once in awhile myself. (Smiles) I like the point that you make at the end of your poem that we are what we are and that is what makes the world such a wonderful place. I so agree with this. Well, again, you have inspired me here to write my own version of Desperate Housewives and I hope that you like mine as I have very much enjoyed reading yours... and, yes, you are very very special, my poetess friend, just the way you are. -Bob

Do you think they might pay you a fee for all these watchers you've aquired for their show?  Love your humor, rhyming and message.  I'm sure Rebecca will get a charge out of it when she's up to having me read it to her.  Thanks angel!

Well first I would have to be a housewife to be desperate wouldn't I, and not a chance of that happening in this decade

Glad you got a kick out of this, wish that part of it was not true too.

Bob, I loved yours - put a whole new meaning into "You show me yours, and I'll show you mine" didn't it, he he   I see your wife and daughter have wonderful taste in entertainment.

As Billy Joel sang so aptly...

Don't go changing to try and please me
You never let me down before.

You are perfect! Just the way you are and I always love all your newsy emails....

You da girl sweetie!
Bree smee who cares about her anyway there's no two snowflakes alike and there's no two ladies either!
