River in the Sky There’s a river in the sky where Banks of clouds and chariots fly Silver and gold and colors of bold That and a phantom I am told I often walk along the banks Where spirits fish with lines of flank Casting off a hook of vie Baited with a look of sigh The river runs a life of deem Where lives the fish of living dream It flows around a world in turn With rippling waves of human yearn And sometimes when the weathers right It rains upon the human plight To soak into a ground of dry To make the flowers bring a sigh And when the rain forgets to fall We have a desert over all |

Makes me think of the Grand Canyon...where the rivers have run for thousands of years, carving deep gorges, twists and turns among the desert...searching the ocean that it eventually finds. |
