River in the Sky

There’s a river in the sky where
Banks of clouds and chariots fly
Silver and gold and colors of bold
That and a phantom I am told

I often walk along the banks
Where spirits fish with lines of flank
Casting off a hook of vie
Baited with a look of sigh

The river runs a life of deem
Where lives the fish of living dream
It flows around a world in turn
With rippling waves of human yearn

And sometimes when the weathers right
It rains upon the human plight
To soak into a ground of dry
To make the flowers bring a sigh

And when the rain forgets to fall
We have a desert over all

Travel around a bit,
and you see all of that,
indeed!

Good Sunday Morning, Sy!

Makes me think of the Grand Canyon...where
the rivers have run for thousands of years,
carving deep gorges,  twists and turns
among the desert...searching the ocean that
it eventually finds.
