Pirogue A pirogue boat and your natural soul Dancin' stars all round you and me Driftin' slow with life's natural flow Upon tha muddy shore banks red eyes do glow Nights' silent stalker smilin' back at me A pirogue boat and your natural soul Perch jerkin with an ole cane pole A mange mutt named thibodaux and me driftin slow with life's natural flow Hear ole Popadeaux yellin' son where you geaux Oh sweet muddy waters that formed my soul out of tha Atchafalaya basin I geaux Isabella the delta queen I see. Lord some day shes' a gonna marry me A bare foot boy of ole creole Catalpa worms droppin' bless my soul gonna be a bend in my ole cane pole filln'me to tha brim with glee Hear the crickets a serenading ole lost soul In ancient blue grass and delta sounds for the driftin' souls of you and me. Suns a comin' up time to row you'll be in trouble if momma don't see a pirogue boat and your natural soul driftin' slowly with life's natural flow A mange mutt named thibodaux and me (LAY-ZAY LAY BON TON RULE-AY OR LET THE GOOD TIMES ROLE) |

This brought a smile for my morning. I am looking forward to catching more of your work and a belated welcome to passions to you. The greatest beauty on earth, is |

Hear ole Popadeaux yellin' son where you geaux Oh sweet muddy waters that formed my soul out of tha Atchafalaya basin I geaux each and every line well descriptive and very refined in the form of great art....only wish I could understand all of what your singing about...but what I do understand is indeed, like driving down past ol Boat Row in Phila, at night time...the wonder and awe is so fulfilling |

LEEJ SUNSHINE SEYMOUR ENCANTRESS GLAD YOU LIKED IT. SOME OF THE SONG IS THIS. WHEN FROG GIGGIN AT NIGHT YOU SHINE A LIGHT ON THE BANK AND SOME TIMES SEE RED EYES. THOSE EYES BELONG TO GATORS. THE WORD GEAUX IS CREOLE FOR GO. CATALPA WORMS INHIBIT THE BAYOUS AT TIMES. WHEN THEY DO, IF YOU KNOCK THEM OFF A CYPRESS TREE THE FISH WILL BOIL THE WATER LIKE LITTLE PIRRANAS. AND A PIROGUE BOAT IS AN OLD CREOLE BOAT. TO SEE WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE GO TO UNCLEJOHNS.COM THERE YOU WILL FIND MODERN DAY KITS. AND AGAIN THANK YOU FOR YOUR REPLYS. WT |

Soulfisher Even without the explanation, you wrote this in such a way, that I understood most of the imagery...very nice flavor to your poetry...I like!! |

Mon dieu, I was just studying up on Pirogue (pee-row for the unexposed, not pierogies, the polish potato-dough treats I still enjoy from my Pittsburgh upbringing or the parodi, the little brown cigar that looks like a root, or worse) and have on the back burner something about this simple, pole driven, shallow boat and its elegant predecessor the gondola. Cho co, fuh shore! |

You are a master craftsman Upon these pages here A tang of southern comfort In cool refined veneer And be there so much pleasure Found brimming tide and tale I find you quite a treasure In pictures paint and sail And should the day come nearly To fish the sun away What pleasure to see clearly Of this fisherman at play Loved the whole write. This sure captures what I know of your world. The catalpa worms made me think of my granddaddy and his old cane pole....only difference, he lived in Ohio hills with his dog, Speedy! Enjoyed. |

Oh, am i glad i stumbled upon this one - thanks for the beautiful memories of the bayou in early morning and the pirogue skimming the water - the feel of the heavy air, the drape of the moss - oh how i loved my times upon the bayous - and how i miss my loved ones there - evenings sitting upon the house boat, the elder men playing cards, and the stories Ward would tell, the nonstop chatter of Loula with her cajun drawl - and the dark brown eyes of my first love, with his chestnut hair and nut brown skin - damn, fine memories - thank you so much - Susan If I wander far enough, long enough, will I finally know . . . |
