Faith is almost lost
When center-winter fills up space
And time is when the brittle-stubble breaks,
Dry and brown, above the frozen ground:
*
The garden is at rest, is colorless
Except for gold of one old crookneck saved
By ice from rotting, laying orphaned
Where its mother-vine had  made a summer nest.
*
But allowing spring flower-cloud-
Billows to image, and raise up
From sugar-plum, catalog images
*
Came in post today (summer dreams) of
Bright green gages, and sugar-snap peas-
Tomitillos, tomato colored pictures
Red-purple-yellow, fruits and flowers
All looking lovely, or drooling delicious.
*
The promise of summer-bounty, lifts
Drooping spirits, morphs them several
Months ahead into the future:

I filled the blanks in, signed the scrap of paper
And raised the flag, that begs for mans attention;
Coped the drifts up-lane (knee-deep)
Refilled with hope and faith, that spring
Is just an order-form for seeds, away.
*
end

All of the poem was colorfully, mouth-watering wonderful...

but I took a second meaning from the bolded line...

even while I understood it to begin with...

so I ask; a reprise of that line, woven into a new poem, with some entanglement throughout your garden vines...please?

Where its mother-vine had  made a summer nest.

i wonder do they return to the same nest they made the spring before that still peeks from the arms of their summer respite?

and those are catalogues of hope to me as i
wait out the last frost.

We who slave to new seed vendors
Gain our joy from fresh spring splendors.
Pickin' and choosin' is our joy.
Plants come up; we shout "OH BOY!"

Nicely done!  Ken

Through rubble and trouble and dark of night
The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light

Much enjoyed the read Ford..
Filled with so much color and hope.
Thank you for making turn away from the snow outside
and remember spring is just a breath away.

Exactly! My garden....you've been here?
I can hardly wait for spring!
Thanks for this ice.  hugs, Chris
