Time just seems to soften,
The edge of memory.
And paint the colors pastel shades,
Of back when I was free.

The lonely nights seem warmer now,
Than they seemed to be back then.
Nostalgia creeps into my voice,
With each, "Remember when...?"

Each score goes up at least five points-
Each bronc's a bit more rank.
Bank statements now grown yellow,
Don't match my memory "bank".

The romance I remember-
Was probably make-believe,
I doubt I left a single love,
To reminisce and grieve.

But my honesty is private-
A man must have his pride,
And add a little luster,
To each forgotten ride.

I know a thousand "champions",
Who were really also-rans,
Who never made the Finals,
And rode for half-filled stands.

Who only went to Vegas,
On the way to small time shows.
But when you love the circuit,
I guess that's the way it goes.

Morning cowboy..
Another fantastic write of true grit.
You write as though you were speaking right to us.
I enjoy that.
Have a good day and a great week.

Magnificent...I bet you did leave loves
to reminisce and grieve...a man with such passion in his heart couldn't help but leave many yearning hearts in his wake...Bravo, my friend...this poem is delightful...*hugs*
