Boxing Day 2004

ink spilled
onto parchment
swirls its sorrow
leaves blemishes
of a diarist’s pain
speaks the message
the strain
could not maintain
a refrain
of agony untold
but spilled
in bold flares
the where’s
and wherefores
of loss
of the tossed,
shaken,
stirred,
blurred~
and only dna
may reveal
the deal
made
and for whom
the sea has spoken

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
