Wow -- you inspire me, and NOT to take up fishing! I used to write my haiku/senryu without the count, only with rigorously short lines....because Japanese haiku translated to English don't find those line lengths unless the translator bends them into shape...which often dents the message. Maybe I'll go back to that, or give it a try. I've been feeling a need for something new poetically, and polishing the old can be a start toward the new. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

Ratleader, Traditional Japanese Poetry- An Anthology, Translator Steven D. Carter ISBN 0-8047-2212-9 An excellent book to have around. Over a thousand poems. Reading it creates an atmosphere in which eventually you’re able to respond just by opening to a random page. Most poems are about experiences in ordinary life which really don’t change from one generation to the next. Glad you liked the read. John |
