2004

the last notes fade
in soft tone seranade
sorrowful in a way
at the passing

‘twas a lively tune at times
Like cloggers jumping
Heels clicking
In riotous noise

Then the cadence would slow
And the sweet pause of silence
Would wrap in comfort shroud
The world weary notes

Only to find a jig
Joining merrily with some jive
Tumbling into bee bop rhythm
Cajoling the complacent to move

And always, there
Just behind the curtain
Stands the blues awaiting
With cool hues dripping

Come, accompany me
In final expression
Let’s join our voices
In boisterous appreciation

Of another year
Bowing out most gracefully
Can you hear?
The fat lady sings . . .

s.a.t.

Every action generates a force that returns to us in like kind . . . let us choose compassion and love

I'm beginning to hear her!  Susan, this was an excellent poem.  I loved the change in meter with the different types of music.   ........jo

Music to my ears! A refreshingly unique poem! I enjoyed this, Sparkles!

What a disappointment to see that your beautiful Mona Lisa photo has been removed! I really liked seeing it when I read your poetry!

I am not one to celebrate New Years...but you paint a lovely picture Susan. Bravo!
