Back then these wings were weak Tattered and torn Unsteady, uncomfortable. But just as they began to heal They were abused Improperly used When these broken wings took flight They crashed into the pavement Avoided repair The story is short But the feelings are long after felt Hurt but still able to grow The wings have long since been repaired Years have passed And time has lapsed The journey was rough But well worth the pain For now all is well Taking flight was painless Fear overwhelmed me Moving on was the face of the finish I finished first Passing along you on the street I remember the beat of your taunts But now I have wings And when I see you I fly. With ease. |

I wish you had taken this deeper and further. It has the makings of a great poem. It is good but light, I would love to read the explored version. Dave |
