The Ladder I sought to view the very top And found a ladder tall, But in my haste I did not pause And suffered many a fall. I then found this ladder old, Was missing rungs a few, And time and patience it surely took To mend the old to new. Then step by step and rung by rung, I now took care to climb, And though it took much longer I did get there in time. And when at last I saw the view I learned a lesson that day, It’s hard to reach the very top But much harder still to stay. I’ve climbed this ladder many times With and without the utmost care, The view, now, remains the same. But not the effort to get there. And some day, as with all things I may weary of the climb, But the legacy of that first quest Shall withstand the test of time. |

Loved this too, and makes you realize that no matter how many times one climbs that ladder they better be careful where and on whom they step, as they may have to come down too Happy New Year to you and yours. |
