J.C. works the midnight shift,
On the said day, of his birth;
Pouring coffee, wiping up tables
And counter-top, cup rings, at
The Star Light, all-night diner

Helping bun-headed Mabel,
Revive blue collar revelers,
Drunks, and others, that missed
Eating Christmas-eve dinners,
With their families or lovers.
*
"It's your birthday, man
What's wrong with you?
Or had you no choice, like I?

"You shouldn't be working tonight",

Sighed,

The dancer, still dressed
Nearly naked, fresh from making
Fantasy love, pretending, it was
More than lust, but art
That spun her dizzy, down and up,
Her faux-penis dance-post...

"I work, all shifts
Wherever and when,
I am needed the most"

His simple reply.

Yes, Karilea, a simple reply...
What else would he say, he is tireless, and his message has no beginning or end... lucky for us it  is not burdened like ours, with the constriction of time...this spirit has no limit,it understands the workings of the universe, and that makes its task seem simple to it...it is the entity of all energy that I speak of sometimes, and if you were it, I believe everything would seem simple to you..
Thank you for this simple but enormous reply.

Yes, the way of life for many, the spirit has a tough job, but it seems he works at it diligently...It knows we are not complete and still makes mistakes, so it keeps on cleaning up after us...like the busboy in the poem...lucky for us mortals..
Merry Christmas

I pray that not only will your poem be seen by many, but this reply, as well...

You have filled my Christmas, with simple.

It IS easy, isn't it?

A good write, Ford. By any name, the spirit of the Prime Mover needs to work 24/7 on this planet.
Wishing you a joyous and safe holiday season, filled with love.

Yep  that's the way of it, always a welcome time when JC works. Good poem very deep in it's philosophy.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Some do that dance on a daily basis thinking their makeup hides who they really are..

I really liked this Ice.

Yes, even though some may hide who their
inner selves are from others, they
always know who they are themeselves.

Ice, I love this poetry...it makes people think.
I also enjoyed reading the replies here.

Ofttimes, His is a thankless job. JC works 'round the clock looking out for mankind ~ asking naught in return save our love!

and some ask, "Should we then go on sinning that we may be forgiven much?" If we did not continue to make our messes, would He then have nothing to do?

Well, love is only nothing in tennis, eh.

interesting/intriguing poem

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Thank you, all who have sent replies....each is very special....

I have tried, by metaphor to explain here what I believe is the worlds saving grace; It is the God within the common man, serving other common men, that can save us all...mho
