I pulled the journal then
And sat myself at an angle against the sun
Where I could see the wrinkles of her bed
As she spread sheets of herself over the imperfect
And tried as always to smooth them

“ I once came here to escape what was
the tempest in me. Trying in my own ways to smooth out
such floods as I felt when my mind was over ruled
by the heart I would deny.”

She, the lady blue, seemed to laugh
A gentle sound of soft dropped wet on wet
Unbound by time or actual place
And I grinned

“I found that she understood something more than I
about patience and about how things rage, then turn calm, yet,
always change”

The sun had moved
  And across the skin of her I saw the broken reflections
Of those things I would write or feel
And simply tore the page from the journal
As I pulled from my pocket a match

And on a new page wrote instead

“She laughs with her knowing of me and would not suffer
the fool I can be to try and hide.”
“How can one not be drawn to fierce recognition such as this?”

I watched the pages curl
         And my own thoughts turn to ash

As I heard her again chuckle
                 A graveled tender laugh

I just got back ...still high from all I saw...and then I find this.....

I KNEW you were there today....I heard you crunching in the leaves behind me...

You have been lucky to find this conduit of wisdom that has flown from her into you.

and I feel lucky to be able to read it.  Thank you.

I saw this today....and wanted words to define it.... and you just did.

“ I once came here to escape what was
the tempest in me. Trying in my own ways to smooth out
such floods as I felt when my mind was over ruled
by the heart I would deny.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
yessssss....exactly.....
“I found that she understood something more than I
about patience and about how things rage, then turn calm, yet,
always change”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

today as I hiked the creek and river trail, the evidence of last weekends flooding was left behind...leaves and branches left in swirled patterns on now dry rock...trees,-- roots still intact swept from the edge of the creek in the torrent, now bridge the banks and serve to catch floating passerbys, creating tiny damns and waterbreaks.... but most evident was the "changes left in the calm" --new curves and cuts in the creekbed...the water claiming new paths to the river.
and yes...the changes there too--the river has reclaimed the sand and gravel bars I stood on all summer during drought...the sunken forest that had been exposed and sun bleached by summer, is now taken back down by the current..only swirls and whirlpools leave sign of its presence. Just days after the rain I was there and the beach was under as was the boat ramp...today the water had receded several feet and they were mud slicked and drying in the sun.....
yesss.... always changing....

The sun had moved
  And across the skin of her I saw the broken reflections
Of those things I would write or feel

all i can do is smile at that verse...
I took 2 rolls of river reflections today...
the now still depths were running on glass...the white branches reached across from the other side...the blue sky tinted the depths and the sun turned the currents to silver....

you wrote what I saw today ...what I tried to capture in time with my lens... you can do so because the river is inside you...
and because you have such a gift of words...
I mean scribbles.

when you walked into the room it felt like time was standing still.
and I felt fascination...then my heart gave me away.

*sigh*

Ron you have always had a way of making me become your female lead as I read...so much so that at times I feel you.

And JM?  I want to go on the next adventure!!!

WOW! Ron, with each story, I get more drawn in by your writing. You are the master of story telling.

going hiking in the morning...
taking this one with me.
