What does a person do
when the night is done
and the darkness still surrounds
and the light cannot break through
the deep layers that cover the heart and soul
so heavily it refuses to let go
and the crushing pain and agony
finds no release, not even in wine or whine
and rocks are no longer Gibraltar but
a myriad of shattered heart stones
thrown at you
and no matter what you give...
it isn’t enough,
and the stars in the sky won’t even cry
but turn their brightness away from your gaze
and you feel your moments are numbered
like some dime store paint-by-number
but your lucky number never came up
just like it never did in cards or bingo or love
and now even the smallest bit of brightness in your life
explodes before your eyes,
backfiring like some horrible nightmare
that was never written into your book of plans
and you feel the whole world has suddenly shrunk
what does a person do

when the record skips endlessly
and never finds the right groove?

Well, I suppose one of things that I would do is write a poem like this! ~ Mind you, Dear Kacy, I'd be hard pressed to ever come up with one as brilliant and stirring as this illustrious write!

This seemed to literally spill from your poetic guts and onto the page!

Only two things a person can do....clean that record really well, in case the skip is caused by a bit of something foreign stuck to it....or decide that vinyl records are pretty much old news anyway, and go get the CD....
