Once the gaze upon him, held all the promise Feelings of warmth and love Fueled burning embers Now smothered with sorrow Big brown eyes no longer stare The fire was plain to see No one could ever wonder Of impending divisions upon one and all Fires still burn Behind lines of mistrust Her window to the soul Forever blinded by the hurt Warm hands of desire once caressed this soul Icy touch now loathed from a promise End of the bargain rings plain and clear One chance wasted because of the fear My dreams are hard these empty nights Memories overload thoughts of past With a future no longer set I wish upon first impressions, a time long past My care and love will always be here In my heart, I still can share Memories of you will never be forgotten Never forget that first long stare |

That first stare ( gaze ) that locks down so many unspoken words. You penned a beauty and laced it with smooth line transitions to lead the reader on. A most enjoyable read. |
