Dangers Of An Unpaid Bill

      when you left me
      you did not go
      somehow you remained
      like a reoccurring dream
      we met like a nightmare
      of an overdue unpaid bill
you were searching
for the face of an angel
(someone I could never be)
and I was looking for
the soul and heart of one
who could maybe let me
save them and be the hero
and they could stand solid
trembling just to be mine
you laughed at me and said
all I seek is the romance
when what I truly need is
deeper and so much more
what I need is quite simple
I desperately need an honest touch
open arms to know belonging in
and unquestionable understanding
I find at times looking back
you bring out the worst in me
when all I really wanted to do was give
but ended up hurt and hurt you in return
today miss seeps in my skin but how is it
you can miss something you never had
for I do not even know you
you are just the unclear picture
of a puzzle not yet together and I
just wanted to be the missing pieces
and in that, there is so much danger
