"I cry out from hunger and thirst, death cannot be the worst for the child that is me, with child. Aide visitors cannot reach beyond each who would touch the heart of Sudan." Cry the night, my poor sister, for there can be no help until we can reach beyond the bodies of politics. It is your lot in life, some might say, that you are poor you are black you have no oil to give and so you have no voice, and those who can make change, do not. I cry out with you tonight, my Sudanese sister, but want you to know many are working to change this scene. Dear Kofi: The Sudan...this IS life and death, not a movie. I know that Israel and Iraq are important battlegrounds. But the death of a single innocent Sudanese child? Do we win one battle, only to lose the war? |

Thanks, Jo. The original title was to have been 'Wailing at the Wadi', but that title somehow seemed to make light of the harsh realities of the Sudanese people. Some aide is getting there, but as is often the case, it is not getting to the people because of age-old political corruption and fighting. |

Thanks, to each of you who took a moment to reply to this, and hopefully, we can all work together to end these international disasters. [This message has been edited by Midnitesun (08-06-2004 04:00 AM).] |
