I woke to tapping
brittle like the feet of stars
dancing on my roof

Yes...it's beautiful, isn't it?

Now off to bed with you! Can't be writing poetry in the middle of the night!

How very lovely, dear Martie!

And Ratleader ... the middle of the night is the best companion for creative souls, you know!

... and you both show the beautiful results!

Love, Margherita

LOL at Rat!  Sir, she can write anytime she wishes!  Especially since it's been so dry in CA...listening to the brittle tap on a dry and dusty roof can be a very good thing...

Martie?  I wish you rain...

When you hear the tapping on the roof,
You know that you are keeping it outside.

Nice symbolism in this little beauty.  Ken

The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light

Echoing on a dusty sill
Caressing peace with a water fill
Leaving you wondering yet again

Has the overflow
Made amends

Like the words - makes the mind work

I woke to the new rains, too,
a few times during the night.
Even here in the NW, the first rains
are something to celebrate
(at least by me).

I love this write of yours, Martie.  Keeping it.

This reminded me of soft rain falling on the top of a trailer roof . . .

Smiles and hugs...good one Martie
