My computer up and left me,
I thought my heart would break.
I lost a piece of my life
And now I’m filled with ache.

Its death was long and painful
But the puter docs were lost,
As to how it lasted a full five years
~ For it wasn’t worth its cost.

It was born defective
In its central drive,
And it simply was amazing,
That it still had been alive.

It lived longer than expected.
But, because its will was strong,
It slugged it out to its last chip
As it slowly crept along.

I saved and saved and saved some more,
Copying files to my disks.
The data was important,
And I wasn’t taking risks.

The night it finally happened,
I had written a poem on God.
And I questioned how this could be,
After my words of praise and laud?

But in my heart I trusted,
That if I prayed with all my might,
A new computer would come my way,
And all would turn out right.

Well, the Universe provided,
Me with a brand new computer,
With all the bells and whistles
~ It’s truly super duper!

I’m thrilled with my new companion.
It’s the state of the art.
But I thank the one that I just lost,
And send it blessings from my heart.

Linda,

“But I thank the one that I just lost,
And send it blessings from my heart.”

Sounds a little AC/PC

Imagine seeing Linda...reading this over
the grave of IT...hmmmmm,  perhaps....

Good one EA,  know the feel of a shiny new

ohhhhh, you did the right thing, Angel,
by laying it to rest and giving it your blessing.
It's just like you to do that.

What fun, a new computer!  Enjoy...

Computers give us fits
Whene'er they're on the fritz.
And when we curse those bits,
They know we all are nits.

Congrats on the new Mosheen!!

Through rubble and trouble and dark of night
The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light

awww, so sad...i know people say that we shouldn't be attached to material things but I believe things such as computers become essential parts of our lives...here in the Philippines people couldn't just live without their mobile phones...i also really felt bad when my mobile phone broke down...technology has become our friend

I am your computer, your wish is my command
But I am not infalliable, I hope you understand,
Sometimes my files become corrupt, that's why I hope and pray,
That you will back up the work you do, each and every day.
And don't get mad at me, when things go awry,
I can not think of everything, even though I try,
Don't take me for granted and you will avoid despair,
Just treat me like a loved one, with lots of love and care.

"It's now how big it is,
or how much pleasure it will bring,
How long will it last,
that's the most important thing."

This quote I overheard,
It was not made by me,
It was made by our Earth Angel,
Who was buying a new P.C.

Well, I just reached over and hugged my computer to show my appreciation.  (not weird is it?) Besides as I was once told by another poetess in here as she was tapping on the monitor screen ...... "There are people in there".  Now this is a read I definitely needed this morning to start day.  ohhhhh and one tiny little question if I may ... What happens to broken poets?

Linda, this is precious and I'm glad you were able to save so many of your files. Good luck with your new one. It sounds awesome.

Agnus ~

Yes, Barry. That was exactly how it was ~ me reading my farewell poem over Millicent's grave and surrounded by all her family and friends ~ From cell phones and lap tops to scanners and printers. Tears of ink flowed like rain. But in their mutual sadness and respect for one of their own, they decided to open an office machines rental store where they can make money from renting out their bodies. They will use that money for a burial fund for office machines. Out of the darkness, came light!

Mark ~

Love your computer and it will love you back. The hug you gave yours this morning is sure to add to the length of its life!

Regarding your question, when a poet is broken, its computer will treat the poet as it had been treated. That a universal truth. Remember, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!

To love, Light ~ and computers! lol

I was commiserating with your woes... then burst out laughing with Ratleader's response...

Have you ever seen that commercial where they're trying to work on computers held together with duct tape? LOL I should be getting royalties from that idea! *G*

No I haven't seen the commercial, but like you, I could have probably made even a more comical one! ~ at it would be comical to the viewers! ~ not us! lol

I hope you ended up getting a new one like I just did. I am so very happy with it and all the wonderful programs that I am now able to install.
