Written while listening to a live performance of Hovhaness' "Mysterious Mountain (Symphony #2) Upon this Mysterious Mountain to walk the stream’s banks one summer morn butters and dragons flit in carousels above rubeckia, ox-eye daisies and sand hills stroked with high water’s fingers rain swells’ hands finger-painting nature’s rhythms across the land and you–– you walk here, too, if but in my heart, in my soul, within my spirit, holding me steadfast with your love your profound enduring love that both brings these tears weeping with joy and sorrow and in the while dries them with the serenity, the peace your love brings, even now, in these latter days beyond the reach of your hands yes, you are gone, yet your love sustains, strengthens, and creates a vibrance in me, a mystery that understanding cannot claim a return to serenity that bathes with peace ©October 9, 2004 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
