Facing My Problems
© 2004 Linda L. Dowd

In times of desperation
When the tunnel’s long and dark,
My pounding heart thunders
And drowns out sounds of harp.

Lost in my own misery,
Unable to find my way.
My spirit ear cannot hear
And my lips forget to pray.

I close my eyes and shut out life
And hope hard times will pass.
But all I do is put them off
~ ‘Til they return en masse!

I’m often my worst enemy.
My fears cloud all my reason.
I fret and stew over little things.
~ It’s always worry season.

It’s not the fault of others,
For it’s I who holds me back.
Avoiding facing problems,
~ Creating a life of lack.

~*~

I now live life with courage,
And use the cards I’m dealt.
I win my battles one by one,
As I tighten up my belt.

When working on my problems,
Loads lift and set me free.
And when I do my very best,
~ A calm comes over me.

I get through all the hard times,
With help within and out,
~ God and all His angels
And myself who cast out doubt.

I’m strong and I’m invincible.
I can face what comes my way.
Trusting in myself and God,
To Lighten the darkest day.

Thank you for these encouraging, comforting, beautiful, wise and confident lines.

You are a great teacher, my dear friend Linda. Even though we cause ourselves sometimes to be in the way, peace eventually comes again, when we are willing to face the problems.

Love and hugs.

I love this, EA. We must trust in ourselves and in God to create the life we want. That is, a life of joy.  Of course, that is not to say that "darker" times will not occur; however. it is up to us how we see these days.  If we know that everything happens for a reason, we can then learn from these times and not look upon them as dark.  I love this quote(although I am not certain from whom it originated) "When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change."  If we look upon the times we see as dark in a new light, we are able then to see these times differently.  (i.e. learning or growth opportunities.)

Sheesh, I have so much more to say, but in the interest of brevity, I will stop here!  Know that I love this piece!

Linda,

This poem spoke volumes to me. Now I think I will put it in my library to read when I forget the lesson.

Exempliary!, Earth Angel!  Most wonderful read.....di mana pergi, di mana ada, lagukan kepada Tuhan.   Translation:  "Wherever, you go; wherever you are, sing praises to the Maker!"  (That's a little song I hear, and I think you hear it, too!)  You do it so well, sweet Linda!  Love you, lily

When I see her strength,
Never do I see an ostrich
buried in sands glove,
but rather,
an angel inspired by
God's unending love.

It is always a treat to read your words and thoughts!  I so admire your mindset.  May I borrow it for the weekend?  Pretty please?

Lol You absolutely crack me up! No, I'm not a Buddha ~ but I did look like one when I was pregnant with both my beautiful daughters! Actually, one of my nicknames since I was a little girl was "Confucius" ~ I was always spouting truisms and speaking in a manner far beyond my years! I think things have reversed somewhat! I am now more of a girl now that I am a woman! lol

And use the cards I'm dealt....

Me too, but it took a while.
I only wish I'd had this advice earlier!

I love your poem and your insight.

And by the way, I didn't know people got new computers for Thanksgiving.   Maybe we should start celebrating it in England.   Sounds like a good thing to me!

Hi, Mary! I'm glad you finally glad you did as well! We're all works in progress, and hopefully by the time it comes to meet our Maker, our inner Lights will be shining brightly!

Your comment about getting computers for Thanksgiving made me chuckle! ~ Mind, you, that might not be a bad idea to add to our Thanksgiving traditions! lol
