There are many patches
that make up my life,
a scrap for a mother
a strip for a wife.

There is a stripe of color
for eyes of emerald green,
threads of golden hair
stitched into every seam.

Little fragments of lace
for the soft side within,
tiny remnants of leather
for the daring woman of sin.

Ruffles make up borders
for my delicate side,
a quilt layering for things
that I'd much rather hide.

A collection of pieces
putting my life on display,
all having been sewn together
to make me what I am today.

Knots tied securely
to show I am strong,
some stitches placed lightly
to correct when I'm wrong.

A combination of patchwork
just little parts of ME,
all woven into the cloth
of my life's tapestry.

{This was one of the first posts I posted when I came to this wonderful place. It's been a great four years, and thanks to you all!}

First off congrats on your 4 years.  A patchwork with many lovely sides this reads.  Enjoyed and now, patch some more poems to add to that quilt of you.

I am so glad you reposted this, Donna, for it is a gem - what a beautiful analogy -

And here I never thought I'd be writing for even a year, and its been 2 already.

Four years well spent, I trust.

And what a beautiful picture you have woven...I truly like all the "bad" bits as well...shows your struggles as well as your triumphs.

GentlestSpirit~

There is a patch of you
I'd recognize from afar
The Spirit of your ancestors
the bright and shining star
that has led you from where you were
right to where you are~
I KNOW within your tapestry true
is the stitching of the Ancients
that you so lovingly bring
to these pages blue~

Ya' know what ?
I love every stitch and every fabric of your ~

Thank YOU for being HERE~

Four years?
How did they slip by so quickly?

And the growth of you
during this time...
has only added to your wisdom,
but stripped away the years
of aging...
