~* Raking Willow's Leaves *~Oh how they dance around me, Pirouetting in such tease of you. Memories of us in October ignites your song. Softly I begin to hum that ancient gaelic melody In rhythm to the beat of my heart not knowing The words meaning, but feeling you in them. A spectrum of fall leaves lay at my feet. I spy one the color of your hair. Tenderly I fondle a collection of small, Intricate pieces of earthen paper Each inscribed with the sounds and scents Of the past, pressed together with love's soil. I touch their moist skins of reminiscence, Chewing on the edges of faces and events Slowly digesting each moment of my life with you Into a composted collective of purest love. It seems the recollections that are Closest to the surface I seem to remember best. Brittle, crisp and crackling memories, Smelling ever so slightly of our past, Crunching loudly with colorful familiarity. I warm at the trick you play upon my mind. I see you so clearly there. There, leaning against a now barren Willow, Wondering if you feel as alone as I? I rake these memories into a huge pile, Frantically running through them, Rolling over and over and over again, In familiar laughter that will always be, The essence of the October part of you. ~* A Thanksgiving Memory Of Willow *~ Funny how I miss her most on holidays and when the leaves are all about me. |

I rake these memories into a huge pile, Frantically running through them, Such beautiful images here. Warm October thoughts of light still shining through the past. In a bond of love you can never feel alone ... it lives forever. Love and hugs. Margherita |

Sharon, this is truly beautiful. The imagery you've captured throughout this peice is vivid and full of warmth. I can see you there, under the willow, pondering your past and savoring the memories. What a lovely poem in her memory. PS, we've added some landscape lighting outside at our place, and lit up the gorgeous trunk of our willow with a beautiful warm amber glow. It's a wonderful sight to see ... I think you'd love it. Best wishes and hugs, /Kit |

"Brittle, crisp and crackling memories, Smelling ever so slightly of our past, Crunching loudly with colorful familiarity." Makes me want to wrap up in a blanket, in front of a fireplace and listen to more.. The memories are so warm. "cast me gently into the morning, for the night has been unkind" |

The most wonderful thing about Ron's home is the people that visit and give you their hugs. Today, when I needed one most - there you all were. Thank you kindly for roaming through the leaves with us. She was a nut you know? She made houses out of leaves and insisted that everyone play house with Mother Nature, then rake them into a huge pile, hide in them, and them roll around. Did I mention she had 4 BIG willow trees in her yard I guess she was about the best kind of nut there is. Wonderful people you can definitely heal souls through airwaves or whatever it is runs this computer, thank you so kindly. Now - if you can figure out how I can baste this turkey (too big for the pan) that would be just wonderful. I am very thankful for ALL of you and if I can make you feel her through these little poem things, then you are the one that is blessed not me, so thank you so much. Having a piece of Willow in your soul is like a cup of hot chocolate on a cold day. |

I touch their moist skins of reminiscence, Chewing on the edges of faces and events Slowly digesting each moment of my life with you Into a composted collective of purest love. **************************** The whole piece is beautiful but the above verse just really impacted me hard. Lovely thoughts, images, and emotions in that one. Then the romp and play in the leaves, well, I believe there is a lesson there for all of us. Just beautiful and how wonderful for you to have such memories to cherish. Loved it. |

Mark? Got leaves? Try it, the kid in you will create the game honest! I can't wait until the girls get here in a few hours to go across the street and play in them. Thank you for your kind words. |

Suthern, you also have kept her in my mind with your poetry lately as well, I may not comment on it as it leaves me a little speechless, but know I read it. You got right into death with those poems. Babygirl, I envy you this October in New York, it is the best place in the entire world in the fall, and thanks for dropping in. |
