this is nothing sudden

my eyelids twinge to close like the drag of setting sun
to carry in my hands the deep midnight of you
I hold you gently as if to crumble like autumn in leaf

this is nothing sudden

as you circle me like the sea
and I dream you into waves that strike at my breast
you’ve made your way heavily

and I have moored you with permanent anchors
with chains, umbilicus
banging at you like a drowning fish
full of waves, full of wet sand

and how you will suffer
in getting accustomed to me

cuz fate is not just whose cooking smells good
but which way the wind blows

you have this way of constructing a solid piece of writing wherein your word choices and their combinations or absences feel so brave and heavy with surety.
so glad to be reading these of you. here. ~a.

Suffer.....no, I have a feeling that word might not be just right, when it comes to getting used to you!

Nothing sudden, indeed.....

Making love was never described as well.....

brings to mind Hemmingway's Islands in the Stream.

Maree,

Beautiful in every way.  Your writes always move me.  The have such depth and such power.  I am always excited to read your posts.  The have a certain "odd-couple" mixture of both elegance and gritty-ness to them that I shall not tire of.  Your poetry is always something I wish I had on my shelf - printed and perfectly bound.

Always impressed,

Big K

The more I read of you, the more amazed am I.

If this is suffering, torture me.

of the ages
