Blessing of an upscale summer holiday
Golden daffodil nestled in little buttons
Employed by beams of light
Finger-painting pink dogwoods
Swan canvases stepping through a walk in door

Doused with wonderment
Swooning Barney and Dora
Gold mine at the State Fair
Smiling cotton candy
Visions of Mr. Potato Head

Excitement in every walk
She is sweet the sound
Like lilacs of morning landscapes
She is someone’s daughter
A seamstress of dreams
She hears the cricket songs
In autumn evenings
Wandering around ponds
She is the ripple of fragrant bells
An island song of theator
A river beginning to flow
Time riddles

Drops of kindliness
Embrace her eyelashes
A virtual library of questions
Talking with a pulsing heart
She is a rhyme in motion
With nonsense her poetic form
The child experiences which brings laughter
Teaching me the ABC’s of verse
Discovering “Oh Boy its Potty Time”
Laughing while saying, “Mim, mi hinee burped!”
Singing we we we we, all the way home

A life of miles of smiles and giggly toys
A child’s book of poetry
Who looks at ordinary things and finds
wonder

In much appreciation to Margie

Hey Leej . . . really, really enjoyed this. Especially the reference to Barney and Dora.  Ryleigh, my granddaughter, lives and breathes him and all the songs they do. She like Dora a lot too . . . and Blues Clues, but Barney is the far and away her #1. Me, I feel a little silly dancing and singing with her when he's on, but the joy in her face makes it all worth while.

loved this...
