Self Centered War

You say we must have war.
You say of course we will have civilian casualties.
That is the price of war.
I have no fear , I am your leader, and I have a safe place to
hide.
My people, I will survive.
Listen to me my people.
That nation is against you, they are the cause of your
pain and deepening anguish.
They are a rich nation while you live in poverty.
We must go to war and fight this nation of the rich.
My people I’m sorry I cannot give you a gas mask to wear.
It will cost this government too much, cover your mouth with a
cloth.
But, do not worry I will survive, I have a place hidden far
away in another country, so please do not worry.
My silver and gold are in banks of another country,
my bunker has great amounts of water and foodstuffs.
Oh! Yes!
I sleep well at night because I know I am safe
from the fear of dying.
I have no fear from this war I do condone
and
prescribe to you my loving people.
So come my people raise your swords high
so you may die
and
know deep within your heart that I will survive.

Bonnie

I described to someone why back in the sixties I would be a first one out after the second bomb.

First melts transitors and radios, second people.

Concrete bunker as the Emergency Flying Disaster Column had 8 hours with the appropriate wind before the radiation started to come in through the concrete.

I voted to do the early analysis.

No one in all the bunkers in the UK apart from Government would have survived 8 hours if the winds went wrong.

The Russians know more about how to take countries out than anyone, including your water.

wow.

You just made me realize something.

How much more personally we take war, when it's our family.

Nodding, a nephew on leave from Afghanistan, next stop, Iraq.

(I'm tempted to shoot him in the foot myself, but he's a feisty thing - I doubt serious that would deter him.)

Guess it's in the DNA.

Hugs for this one lady.

A Reminder to all that there are PEOPLE involved, not just talking heads on CNN & such.

A good poet can use their words as weapons, You have used yours here with powerful effect...and without hurting anyone

Come read to me some poem,
Some simple and heartfelt lay,
That shall soothe this restless feeling
And banish the thoughts of day.

Very thoughtful poem in many ways.  But then, it is easy for the leaders of countries to fight these wars from the leather chairs in their air conditioned office.  Would that we could all just love one another - wouldn't that be wonderful?  Ah, the heart of a dreamer --

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.
