Destiny Crumbles to the ground, Listening To wind whisper low History Dies without a sound; Christening Future we can’t know. Walking in the first of night A piece of glistening light Attracts my searching gaze Amidst the ruined maze Of a house slipping fast Into the forgotten past. Misery Loss they can not take, Glistening Gaze to the dark water Memory Of a crushing heartbreak, Unending Pain of lost daughter. An old picture in a frame Signed with tombstone name Dam is built and level rise Grave was move to higher ground But as I looked around Knew this was where it still lies, But this dry will not stay Soon a lake will come this way Drowning the plowed past In progress developing The future enveloping Only an old stone will last. So often when I read your poetry, I feel like I'm going for a walk - that these observations somehow came about on an evening stroll. Good day Professor |

That was a very interesting poem. Powerful. The last few lines were awesome, but very sad though. I liked it. Thanks Jon "Only God can judge me" Tupac Shakur |

Powerful indeed, but subtle with grace. I love this much, prof. You sparked a train of thought for me with this. (I keep backspacing) *laughing* um, would that be damming the history? I do believe it might. Up to the top with you, this needs to be read! |

"Only an old stone will last." That line has personal significance for me. *sigh* keeping this one, Prof |

Thank you, Margherita, Pleased you enjoyed. Thank you, Copperbell, Glad you liked this walk, The idea came from conversation a while back with my father Who now in a nursing home likes to tell me about things I did in my youth. When I was in the single digits of age my Grandfather took me fishing in a small stream, The stream now is part of a lake and where we sat fishing is now many feet below water. Thank you, keoni, Progress sometimes is sad, thanks for taking the time to read and comment. Thank you, serenity, For your comments and support Thank you, midnitesun, Tombstones or gravestones have special significance to me also A life written in stone, so brief a comment So packed in brevity. This makes me think of Native Americans and their loss of burial grounds to the tide of progress. Or that of old fishing grounds, etc. Also of simplicity lost. Much enjoyed - Susan Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you. Joy is a state of mind. |
