Time Unfolds If time could run backward it would stumble and fall over errors, misfortunes it’d trample them all. The sunset would sunrise the twilight would break the snow would come pouring right out of the lake. Mountains would deepen and valleys would rise; morons would flourish and idiots be wise. Fish would start flying and birds most surely would swim and I’d look a beauty to the likings of him. But time marches on it does not go in reverse the days we are given we cannot rehearse. It’s one time through from beginning to end, we can’t take our words back nor un-enemy friend. The best we can do is the best that we try to go from the dawning until darkness we die. Faith, hope and love are the things that survive if we take them and nurture each day we’re alive. Then the legacy we leave is of utmost import it will linger in hearts of the ones we support. The moments of time unfurl and unfold they slip round the clock as each peal is tolled. We cannot hold them nor make them turn back so we fill what we can and pray for our lack. Forgiveness is offered; it’s free for receiving if we let it sink in; we’ll spend less time in grieving. As the carnival coaster begins its rise and descent it keeps on rolling 'til our ticket is spent. ©September 21, 2004 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
