Timeless nights and memories Lost upon the waves Forgotten times and enemies Written on Nameless graves The soldiers of the past Walk through our lives today Memories, each stronger than the last Pass through our minds each day They fought for us through night and day All so far from home While their friends worked and played They were broken and alone Our lives they fought for every night Tired after long days work They prayed to god with all their might Fell to their knees, sank in the dirt Tear lines streak their dirty faces And not a man does speak Hundreds of people, different races Eyes lift to the sky, gods face to seek Each together and alone Staring to the sky Hearts and minds turned from stone Softly each man cries The names of family and of friends They have left behind They know each day might be their end Their last moment in time They walk a path that few would dare Compassion, from their hearts reflect… Whether or not you like the war… These men… these women deserve our respect. One in a sea of millions has the power to change the world... |

Now that my friend is an excellent tribute so well written and so well expressed. Can't say I get the title but the rest is wonderful. Thank you. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

This is something I truly believe... In our current state, there is no draft in place. The men and women defending our country are there by their own will... free will, that our ancestors before us fought for, and won for us. I walk the streets and I hear people criticizing President Bush... and his decision to go to war. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion on the subject... and that I am fine with... but today I heard someone call a soldier stupid... and it made me a tad irate. If nothing else, give them your respect. You don't have to like something to respect it... but they deserve the respect. One in a sea of millions has the power to change the world... |

Amen! If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

The soldiers are giving their lives for freedom, How much could any of us do that for them? Maybe you should have turned around and asked the person on the street that same question who called a soldier stupid.... "Would you die right now to save me?" "for freedom?" "For Your Friends?, Your Family?" No..they wouldn't have the courage, the strength or bravery to do it. When put to them like that...it makes them think or it should...then anyone who could say that about a soldier doesn't have a brain in the first place. I don't care about WHY they are doing it...it is the fact that they ARE doing it...and knowing the price. This proves how disrespectful and spoiled America is in the first place, I am ashamed of the ungrateful attitude...let these people who say such things go and live in another country that isn't protected by fellow men...and see what they say after that! Your poem was very thought provoking and stirred me up...LOL Love and Hugs ~ARH Come, love all of me, mind, body, spirit..feel my passion, taste of me, be filled completely! |

*Grins* Thank you for that... both of you. The same thought crossed my mind as well ARH... there are things in this world worth living for, and then there are things worth dieing for. One in a sea of millions has the power to change the world... |
