I Lost My Real Centerfold |

Air here is foggy, kind of tricks your mind into thinking you can breathe, smell of last night’s catfish comes from the kitchen, makes me sick today but there’s work to do. My lady left me. The flowers didn’t work, the candy didn’t satisfy, folks, it was lame! I was an ass! I wanted her to go back twenty years so we could both live a lie. While, she didn’t mind my looking at other women, I know it hurt. She had this look on her face like she’d been slapped, Once the words were out, it was too late. I have an idea and my poetry’s on hold, some. My work begins at dawn before the heat I’m building us a front porch, she wanted one for flowers and other things, to watch the evening pass and the sun move down; it sounds corny but I won’t apologize. my hair is on my shoulders joints ache when it rains, her place at the table stares at me, I’m not twenty one anymore and winter’s coming. It took me more than a dozen years to find this woman. My eyes and arms are empty, she was really the only centerfold I ever wanted and I want her back, and know that her month will go on into my years and that I’m sorry, that I love her, she doesn’t have to be anyone else, just be here when the porch is done, maybe we could read poetry together, talk about the groceries, hold hands, cry a little after dark, I could rub the inside of her arm again, do all that before we go to bed, Where’s the board, the nails, where’s the son I never had to help? I should have built this twenty years ago. |

I like the entrance of this pathway... Welcome to Passions. You know what? You couldn't build a porch twenty years ago...but the one that you will build now...was worthy all along. ThisDiamond |

A very sad read but one so familiar to a lot of people. "I should have built this twenty years ago" - and the realisation of that is building more than you can know - for your "soul", that is. |

That porch will hold much more than flowers. It shall hold memories, hopes and dreams. Perhaps she will sit on it yet. Very tender heartfelt write, Daniel. Welcome to Passions. |

Oh my, this makes me feel so sad and I hope she has a chance to understand how you truly feel, for I am certain it would move her heart to compassion - Susan Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you. Joy is a state of mind. |

My eyes and arms are empty, she was really the only centerfold I ever wanted and I want her back, and know that her month will go on into my years and that I’m sorry, that I love her, she doesn’t have to be anyone else, This hurts so bad! Of course we can't ever go back, or take back and right our wrongs. But your poem makes me wish it were possible, if only to spend a little more time. How my heart aches for you, and me too. Sadly beautiful this is, Daniel~ |
