on the open road with the wind blowing in my hair

I saw two friends,
fishing in a forgotten stream--
the fly floating and flying,
fluttering in the air,
and silently touching down,
moving the surface of the water
then arching up,
teasing the eager fish,
building their appetite.
The two friends
stood in the water,
making no ripples,
except the water moving
around the bodies
Moses and Aaron
parting the Red Sea.

the only people for me are the mad ones-mad to live, mad to be saved, desirous of everything at once--jack kerouac
