Among the roots of cattails Growing as they do Along the edges where the water stills And quiets it murmur of words Left written on stones Strewn along its bed with punctuation marks Trailing on foam beyond I felt the silt of time Settled as it has In fine lines along the banks And thought a moment passed When in the mud and tangled white of stem I saw a bit of me and you remnants of the sunlit days spent dressed in sky and musk now held in place by something other than ourselves added to the grit and grime of all before and those after who touched skin of water naked in their divine of who next and at what bend they too would be left to settle Pulling loose the handful of mud I thought held the essence of what we knew I let the stream then carry it again And hoped my hands Would come clean |

Yes, "Among Cattails There Are Songs" and you have deliciously reminded me that that be true! Reading your poetry is akin to listening to a favourite song or being taken on a memorable journey. Love & Light, Linda |

"added to the grit and grime of all before and those after" "Pulling loose the handful of mud I thought held the essence of what we knew I let the stream then carry it again And hoped my hands Would come clean" Sometimes the grit and grime are needed as a reminder... lovely addition to my collection.
