Permanent flowers
freshly blooming forever,
scents, colors changeless;
what would we not give for them?
Yet if it were so,
in time would we not come to
value them no more than leaves?

James,
   Probably true, but up to debate.  The idea of permanent flowers strikes a chord now and then!  Lovely poem.  Gotta go and put a support under that library shelf.  It's becoming awfully heavy with your poetry and that of the many gifted poets here!

How very beautiful! *S* I wish I had the discipline to make my thoughts succinct... instead... mine just wander. *S*

I think how much we value what we have depends on the person... some would look forward to each glimpse of such flowers and count their blessings as they inhaled the heady fragrances... carrying sweet memories to sustain them if they had to leave such beauty. Others would be butterflies... always seeking something new, uncaring whether that meant better or just different... oblivious to whether they left behind wilt or wonder. *S*

Jamie: I'm so honored. *S* I've come to understand that some feel differently... but as a poet, I can't think of a greater accolade than knowing that words from my pen provided inspiration for another poet. *S*

This bouquet is valued tremendously. *S*

It is all,
always,
in one's perspective.

Well done, Sir.

ah, but you see, i value leaves as much as i do blooms - their beauty upon the trees as the dappled sunlight shimmers in glow upon their form.  i could easily be surrounded eternally by flowers as well - enjoyed this
