Winter’s Solace

Summer sounds slipping
Leaves today for tomorrow
The iceman cometh...

I must find me
A sound of summer
To carry me through the coming

Seeds disappear as birds feed heavy
It is not September,
But walnuts fell early
And holes are being dug
In portend

Sounds of summer winds
Are but echoes of a time
Remember my warm?

Where would it be,
This sound that is required ~
Winter months more than six
Will be long in chill and dark

Somewhere, a sound
To hold within, wrap around
Equating quilt to arms
Arms wrapping love

Gray shadows lighting
Somber sounding snowflakes fall
Mind holds green and blue

Will you find me this winter,
Shuddering in warmth
Of summer memories ~
Green pools of light,
Reflecting you,

Fact finds a promise
Shadows give way, dark to light
Warmth will melt winter.

I have the sound, now,
The sight, as well...
It is your thoughtful smile,
The flowers you bear
And your pleased sigh.

Promise turns to fact,
Seasons shall roll on their way,
Soon shall come in time.

Oh my Sunshine. Now I am feeling cold! LOL! It is too early to be thinking of winter...and yet I must confess I was doing the same not a half hour ago. It seems I am not the only one who thinks snowfall might be coming early this year. It has been so cool the past couple of weeks that I actually saw a tree with yellow leaves yesterday. Sigh! Summer swept by too quickly for my heart.

Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history!

I love that top picture...

yaknow, it seems the older I get, the faster the seasons come and go, except for winter...

Where is my jacket? Oh?  That was the aircon
causing the chill I felt on my back..

Sun,  you write most everything I can think
of...exceptionally well!!  But....can't you
wait a little while for winter to come in
SOFTLY....??

Enjoyed the way you wrote this.  Neat, now
I am thinking again...sheesh...

"of summer winds
Are but echoes of a time
Remember my warm?"

Already, even here in Houston, I feel it, too.  Karilea, this is such a sensitive and beautiful poem.   & *hugs*  SIL
