Between the Lines

I cast aside what isn't there
knowing someday may see its return,
but in no hurry to chase it.

Thoughts race through my mind,
old thoughts as if they are new
awakening in me those fearful moments
of wondering what next to do.

A backward race through time,
some days a punch in the gut, others
anticipation of the unknown.
Both eating away at the pleasantries
that could be.

Always leaving me in doubt,
looking through a window
at the outside world
wishing it were me, there,
somewhere... laughing and enjoying.

I am a ghost of myself, just an outline
of possibilities needing the lift to up.
Stuck for now, faintly visible to anyone's eyes
as I negotiate day to day.

This verse caught my eye too, but the whole poem is very moving; sounds of the blues, single horn, soft snare and top-hat, with a base and restrained guitar.
A sad song, but deeply felt.

Hi nakdthoughts,

I loved the honesty of your message and the
frequency that another event could return so easly, yet to pursue would not be of benefit at the moment. Very nice to be reading such wonderful poetry again,

Love, Cerenity
