Beyond Comprehension Grief is unfathomable Scents linger on Beloved possessions Only in imagination But are inhaled greedily In attempts to nourish An unsatisfiable void There is no logic In one day being worse Than those that preceded Or will follow But agonizing anniversaries Of when joy ceased Siphon sanity Grief wields holidays As instruments of torture To be endured, not enjoyed And reminds of milestones That might have been If only… if only It skewers perception And distorts memories Rearranging scrapbook pages, It elevates the departed To early sainthood Flaws and failings Fade in significance As even aggravations Are sorely missed Excruciating fall seems endless In this bottomless pit There are always lower floors |

Suthern beloved one, that is awesome writing darling heart, I’m struck dumb. ……………. I’d write a ream or two praising your writing but I’m truly struck dumb. You are some writer, and I’m left totally speechless. (And how often sweet one has that happened?) I know, I know almost never, you really have written a beauty here, this is powerful writing, and I love that line ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ There are always lower floors ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Stunning writing as always Mushy Tomorrow is another day I don't know what it holds |

When three of my favorite ladies leave such wonderful responses, I'm truly humbled. Mysteria, jellybeans and Marsha... I thank each of you so very much... I wish none of us understood this. Thank you! |

Scents linger on Beloved possessions Only in imagination But are inhaled greedily In attempts to nourish An unsatisfiable void ====================== how timely this piece is for me...just yesterday I did this with Grandma's Chantilly powder as I was packing it away for the move. There are always lower floors and how powerful this piece....this series... ( moving on to the next one) |

Laura, I have to be in just the right frame of mind before I read the poems in this series....because they shake me to the middle. You know this far too intimately, and it's impossible to miss the absolute reality behind -- and in -- every word. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

There are no lines within these that are lacking in truth and the belief that you have been there as well. Thanx for the share. Sorry I haven't read more of them in recent days. |

Ruth, It seems I have missed a few. But still I find this to be powerful writing. Grief without growth is pain without purpose. My how you have grown. I must say that I find in those days the opportunity to celebrate the lives cut short unexpectedly. Now I embrace the tears and find in them wet crystals of loving memories not forgotten. Peace...as your surely deserve it. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |
