Living to Die, Ghosts of Lies Looking better then I had any right to expect Atmospheric stilled, texture compacted silence Columns of elastic second-guessing? Bookends between a steeply pitched roof Twin live oaks, gathering dusty inclement weather One of age & nuptial, thick as a portly man’s thigh Planted indigo ruins, like a dining room chandelier spies The debts and unpaid taxes, reclaiming fear As sunset, approaching footsteps, Tows open a door from inside Like flesh and blood rain, Dripping mischievously from the eaves Hanging twin barrel ghosts, Armed shadows remain Cursing what ran past me To the end of his pain Permanent residence of unpaved purpose Tracking me down While hiding in persecution Feverously clearing my throat, Couching up murky anguish His, and mine, mouthing initials on our souls “No more pictures please”! I scream Tobacco juice spits on a non-fiction best seller One drink says goodnight to a haunted house Groaning with dreadful vengeance & review Winding…rewinding Remains meddlesome, upon insomnia dreams Ones waiting with a smile of lost affection Self-appointed ramrods good-byes Embarrassment smiling sweetly at shorelines While free styling through an oceanic cloud Vantage point-threshold of a black void That he had every right to drop me in Deliberately leaving the lights off Icing down Champaign on a moonless night In the morning who could I be, where am I…again? 4 years gapping at empty linens Calling 911, gasping, “Where the heck have you been”? Anger yawns with a fist Obviously never being the one he’s missed Shapeless flannel cuff slices a notch on thighs As insignia of dirty talk seizing initiative How long does the alarm ring? After throwing it across the room Using the back door Scrubbing dirty floors With recycled paper towels Ones from a dollar store Throwing away lottery numbers Gut instinct, holds solitude close Heavy overtones poking me in the head Again and again Reminding me of that night he silently screamed An ivy covered brick wall implicitly growls at me..
Vengeance is thine! you! Stay alive to die!
Reminding me why I prefer solitude A lesson well learned

Has anyone ever told you how much you look like a young Adrienne Barbeau?

LJ: Sounds like more than just a lesson... "Gut instinct, holds solitude close"...indeed... Your writing style fascinates me...a snapshot of your mind. Love it. K
