A Heart…

I feel I am in Heaven
Or in a place of happiness with clarity,
Because love is free to roam once again;
Free to laugh without masking the pain of my heart---
A heart that once cringed from memories of the past---
A past that once hardened my emotions,
Making them brittle as glass, shattered so many times
When fear swung its mighty hammer and did not miss---
Missed out on opportunities
Or at least the possibility of salvation from humbling experiences---
Experiences that taught me caution,
Therefore building stone walls around my heart---
A heart that has cried and cried in secrecy with lonely tears---
Tears that have gradually seeped within cracks of my comfort,
Softening and nurturing the soil, where her love can grow---
Growing here and everywhere within my soul are spring flowers---
Flowers smelling of her sweet perfume---
Perfume that lingers and hypnotizes,
Creating visions of the future---
A future of vulnerability and promise---
A promise of confidence and passion,
That love has found its way back to my heart---
A heart that smiles as walls crumble
Allowing the sun to smile on all that is beautiful.
