You better run You better hide Before he gets you And whips your hide For being bad. Oh what did you do? Nothing at all Not a reason for him, though He'll beat you 'till you fall You better get out And run all you can Until he's out of sight And so is his rough hand It's not your fault You didn't do a thing But again, it doesn't matter Not to him Not to him. |

This is so sad. Can I ask if it was your Dad? You don't have to tell me if you'd rather not. I feel so sorry for anyone who has to live with a father like this ------------------ The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there IS to celebrate. ~Isis~ (Daughter of Mystery) |

No, Isis. I luckily do not have to go through this kind of pain. But I know people who do and this is sort of for them, a way to let them know I'm feeling for them. I'm hoping that anyone who reads this will know that they are not alone and they should do something about it, any way they can. There are caring people out there. It is truly a horrible thing that nobody should have to go through. Mental as well as physical abuse should not be tolorated! I just hope more people will realize this and get help for others or themselves. Thanks. I just had to get that message out. Sorry if I was preaching while stating my beliefs. JOY |

Joy14... this is quite sad I, too, was fortunate enough to never have dealt with a problem like this, but have so many friends/loved ones who did/are. It is a terribly "scarring" thing to live with and generally "scars" those people for a good part, if not all of their lives. Great poem, well written and well worthy of writing about ------------------ Life is what you make of it... Not what you let it be |

SOOOO glad it wasn't you!! No you weren't preaching at all, community awareness is what it's all about. Anything that moves you strongly is worth writing about. It's a wonderful piece, don't apologise for a word of it, just happy you didn't have to go through that ------------------ The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there IS to celebrate. ~Isis~ (Daughter of Mystery) |

Good poem J14. I can relate to this a little. My dad use to get a little carried away with disciplining when my brother and I were younger. I wouldn't say he was abusive but there was a level of fear. As the years went on it got better and about 5 or 6 years ago he apologized. He has never raised a hand to our younger brother and sister. So we were fortunate enough to work through it and find a happy ending. Anyways- well done again and there is nothing wrong with your caring about this subject. |

Thank you. I'm glad I wrote this. Because as I said before, I do feel strongly about this. Thanks again. JOY |
